World War I British published, from Edith Cavell propaganda series, artist signed T. Corbella.

Edith Louisa Cavell (1865 – 1915) was a British nurse and humanitarian. She is celebrated for helping some 200 Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium during World War I, for which she was executed. This led to worldwide sympathetic press coverage of her.

Rec'd delivery of 100 of these postcards. Got them on the cheap so they aren't trimmed very well- some have white showing at one edge or another. Also slightly odd dimensions, 5 5/8" x 4 1/4". Among the most attractive cards ever produced were the eight series of cards that Samuel Schmucker did for The Detroit Publishing Company. I'd like to share them with this group. The first two series are the Drink set and the Smoke set.

The captions on the Drink set are Champagne, Claret, Crème-de-Menthe, Manhattan,
Martini, and Sherry.

The captions on the smoke set are Clarice, Laughing Waters, Lucinda, Molly,

The Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy railroad is my favorite railroad because their tracks passed a few blocks from where I grew up. I used to love watching and riding both the commuter and Zephyr trains.

Much of the history of the CB&Q railroad can be found on postcards. The Brainerd Water Tower has been called "Paul Bunyan's Cup" or "Paul Bunyan's Flashlight." It was built from 1919 to 1922, and was the first all-concrete elevated tank used by a municipality in the United States. It was replaced in 1960 but is still standing.

These are a type of novelty postcard. They seem to be a specialty of Spain. I think they have been made for a long time, but I don't know how long. I don't know the age of the ones I have. The first two have just thread on the costume. The last one also has a ruffle for the skirt. Though Arthur Thiele is mostly known for his fantasy cats, he did quite a few other animals as well. This fantasy monkey set is one of my favorites. I love the monkeys all dressed up in their finery. I guess the two on the outsides are chimpanzees, so not technically monkeys. I was wondering if anyone out there has any advertising cards for a local, or regional product that they would like to post. Not the big national brands like Coke, Ford & Howard Johnson's, but rather something that isn't well known outside of a local region.

You can still buy Weaver's Lebanon Bologna, but it is now made by Godshall's. Lebanon Bologna is a Pennsylvania thing. Where I grew up, Lebanon Bologna was 'regular' bologna. This is a real photo of an airship with a Velox postcard back. A dealer has written on the back in pencil identifying it as a fair in New Bedford, Massachusetts. As if the airship wasn't enough, in the foreground there is also a large ramp and some sort of automobile. The ramp has a long decent and then looks like it would just launch the car into the air!

What is this automobile ramp? Is it for a stunt? Advertising an indestructible auto?
